Water polo edged again

The boys’ water polo team lost its third game of the year, this time falling 9-8 to Newport in double-overtime Sept. 20.

Behind the 14 saves of goalkeeper Sam Krutonog ’18, the Wolverines held a two-goal lead at home in the fourth quarter. Pierce Maloney ’19 and Ryan Neapole ’19 combined for five goals, but it was not enough, as Newport went on a 4-2 run to finish the game.

Both teams are set to partake in the South Coast Tournament this weekend, with Harvard-Westlake holding the No. 4 seed behind Newport.

Coaches have decided to move backup goalkeeper Nolan Krutonog ’20 to the field, due to his arm strength and ability to move quickly in the water.

The Wolverines will play Edison on Sept. 21 at 3:00 p.m. in the South Coast Tournament.
