In posts uploaded to Twitter, Instagram and the school website Thursday afternoon, the Athletic Department announced that football program head Scot Ruggles resigned from his position.

“I have truly enjoyed my six years at Harvard-Westlake,” Ruggles said in post on the school website. “We have accomplished some amazing things as a football program and I am proud of our legacy. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my career and will always be a fan of Wolverine Football.”

Over the course of his six-year stint at Harvard-Westlake, Ruggles compiled a 36-30 record.  The team finished 8-3 this season, falling to St. Joseph’s (Santa Maria) in the first round of the playoffs.

Ruggles’ signature offense was an uptempo option-based scheme.  He called offensive plays for the team in each of his seasons except 2016.

“We are grateful to Coach Ruggles for all that he has done for Harvard-Westlake Football,” Head of Athletics Terry Barnum said in the same post. “His contributions have strengthened our program, and benefited many of our students and we wish him the best of luck in the future. We are excited about the future of Wolverine football and will begin the search for our new Program Head immediately.”

The Athletic Department has yet to name a successor.  This is a breaking story and will be updated with new information.
