“It feels amazing [to win the first game of the season],” midfielder Gabriel Palacios ’20 said. “The guys worked really hard for this moment and have been preparing all offseason for today.”

The team led 2-0 after the first half with both goals coming from midfielder Connor Quinn Colao ’21. In the second half, midfielder Alec Katz ’19, midfielder Charles Vogel ’19 and defender Alexander Schindler ’19 scored for the Wolverines.

Palacios praised the squad’s success after the win.

“We definitely executed our pieces that we had worked on in practice and moved the ball quickly,” Palacios said.

Forward Henry Sanderson ’20 said that he believes it was important to start the season strong by winning this game.

“It builds our confidence and gives us a boost into the regular season with electricity and power,” Sanderson said. “It creates a nice feeling for the whole team.”
