This morning at all-school assembly, shortstop and Stanford University commit Drew Bowser ’20 announced he will be playing in the Prospect Development Pipeline League this summer at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. According to PDP’s official website, the League is a collaborative effort between MLB and USA baseball to establish an official identification and player development pathway for amateur baseball players in the United States.

Bowser said he is looking forward to the opportunities that this summer will give him.

“The summer is going to be exciting,” Bowser said. “I will be playing in many showcases and hopefully be able to earn a spot at the All-Star game and on the 18U national team.”

The program will consist of three weeks of training alongside 80 of the nation’s best high school baseball players. After three weeks of play, 40 players will be selected to play in an All-Star Game in Cleveland, Ohio. Following that, about 20 players will be selected for the 18U USA National Team.

Bowser’s announcement was made to whole school at assembly at which a representative from USA baseball spoke about the program and Bowser received his jersey for the summer. Teammate, USA Baseball alum, Vanderbilt University commit and outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong ’20 said he was happy for Bowser and looks forward to watching him play.

“I was very excited to see him get honored in front of the school today simply because it’s well deserved,” Crow-Armstrong said. “It’s the highest honor a high school ball player can get at this age right now. I’m excited to check in on Drew over the summer and I’m confident I’ll be watching him in Korea next fall when he makes that team.”

Bowser has been starting at shortstop for the Wolverines since freshman year. This season, the team has an overall record of 23-5-1 and is ranked third in the nation according to Maxpreps. The squad’s first CIF playoff game is tomorrow at Valencia High School with first pitch scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
