Wolverines improve to 2-0 in league play

Boys’ basketball beat out St. Francis in the race for 10 wins on Friday night, as the Wolverines defeated the Golden Knights 75-68. The Wolverines improved to 10-6 on the season and 2-0 in Mission League play while St. Francis fell to 9-5, and 0-2 in the Mission League.

Johnny Juzang ’20 led the Wolverines in scoring with 17 points, a turnaround from a disappointing Mission League debut in which he scored just 5 against Loyola. Three of his teammates scored in double figures; Cassius Stanley ’19, Carter Begel ’17, and Terren Frank ’20.

After a closely contested and high-scoring first half, the Wolverines appeared to pull away by the 4th quarter, leading by as much as 13, but the Golden Knights were able to cause a scare when Head Coach David Rebibo allowed tenants of the far end of the bench to enter in the waning moments of the game.

However, the Wolverines managed to escape unscathed, and Rebibo received rapturous applause from the Fanatics for awarding garbage-time minutes to Liam Hyde.

The Wolverines’ next game is a home contest on Monday against Crespi.
